TERRY LEE RAY

(December 19, 1962 - January 21, 2016)

PLANTERSVILLE. MS - Mr. Terry Lee Ray, 53, died Thursday, January 21, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Palacios, Texas on December 19, 1962, to Billy Lee Ray and Gladys Ray. Upon graduating high school, he continued his studies at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas. At the time of his death, Terry was employed by Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he worked as a Signal Maintainer for 30 years. He married Cherry Welch on February 14, 2003, and had lived in the Plantersville area for the past fifteen years. He was a family man who enjoyed being at home and spending time with family. His hobbies included selling and trading knives, traveling, and bass fishing. He was a member of Willow Drive First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, Texas.


A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Bobby Holland officiating. Private burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until service time only. Condolences may be e-mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@cocmast.net.


Survivors include his wife, Cherry Welch Ray of Plantersville; his parents, Billy Ray and Gladys Ray of Sweeny, Texas; two sons, Jason King (Samantha) and Bobby King, all of Nettleton; two stepsons, Brandon Sipple (Chelsea) of Deer Park, Texas and Tyson Sipple of Texas; daughter, Katie Ray of Houston, Texas; father-in-law, J.C. King (Wanda) of Mooreville; four grandchildren, Rhody King, Raylan King, Brayden Sipple, and Jordan Sipple; his caregiver, Jennifer Welch Lorino; a host of other near and dear relatives.  Pallbearers will be members of Kansas City Southern Railroad.
His son, Jason King, will be an honorary pallbearer.
